Mary Krochmalny graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2015 with a BFA in Textile Design, focusing on the tactile process of weaving and natural dying. She is curious of the many parallels between fiber and clay. Both mediums lend themselves to an infatuation with materials and encourage a dance between physical interaction and mental meditation.
Today Mary creates utilitarian ceramic wares inspired by mid-century design and the western Montana landscape. Simple in form yet ergonomic by design, Mary's pottery invites the user to utilize her pottery during daily rituals and routines. Mary finished a post baccalaureate at the University of Montana in April 2023. At UM she focused on experimenting and developing signature clay and glaze recipes. She is currently working out of her home studio where the interruption of dog walks and tea breaks is delightfully encouraged.
